I admire your tenacity and enthusiasm during this brutal process! Continuing on with the next one is the best way to maintain one's sanity, so it's terrific that you're doing just that.
Thank you, Wendy! As you could tell, I was being a little whimsical. But I really do check the rankings sometimes when I go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. :)
What you’re doing with this new series is such a cool and worthwhile thing. There are teens out there I think your story will really resonate with. Word of mouth takes time, but I keep hearing it’s still the best way to get sales. But yep, I’m sure I’d be checking those numbers compulsively, too.
Thanks for your comment! I'm following the David Gaughran school of self-published series, in that you really shouldn't start doing any heavy promotions until at least book 2 has been published. So I've been holding my horses as best as I can. However, my wife will attest that I am not exactly the most patient person in the world. :)
Thanks for this excellent response! Yes, we're not alone. But self-publishing has grown into an opportunity for success, even if it's usually a relatively small one.
I hear you, this is the story of my life it seems, especially where trad publishing and attempting to make that work seems to be concerned.
Keep it up, and as a fellow fantasy writer I feel the pain, which is why I'm so glad to have discovered the community hereon Substack and to have joined Warrior Wednesdays & Sword & Saturdays as these events have really boosted everyone's stacks and managed to get our smaller works out there. Stay strong brother, you are not alone in this struggle!

And thank you for your kind words.

That's totally understandable! I'd do the same.
