Dream girl, South Carolina, and a character named "Gar," what more can a reader want? Curious, Jim: How did the name "Gar" come about? Hope you're well this week. Cheers, -Thalia
Thanks in return, Jim. I was in a writer's group with an accomplished YA writer and learned a little of the craft through the critique and discussion--and came to respect a genre I otherwise would not have encountered. You absolutely have the mojo going :) May I use the 'Recommend' feature of Substack to link your blog to mine? Regards--Josh (in Boston)

Hi Thalia! Gar is actually short for Garrick. He's Garrick in the real world, Gar in the fantasy world. 😀
I might borrow this the next time the kids need to name a pet. :) A very unmistakable name.
Accomplished and compelling YA fiction. The writer obviously has range, voice, verisimilitude, expertise at the craft.
I consider this to be a high compliment, especially coming from a writer of your caliber. Thank you.
