You're really by the numbers, Jim! I have yet to try great swaths of words. Probably lean toward your wife's approach, more writing from 'feel like it', than git er done! Great results though, no one can argue. Keep it going, Jim and thanks for your insights.
Thanks for the great comment! The writers nowadays who are self-publishing genre series and who are making some money at it are doing it by churning out 2-4 books a year and eventually ending up with several series of 3-8 books each. So I'm going to give this a try, at least for this series, and hope for the best. Counting words has become the only way I know how to pull this off. I'm already 65, so time isn't on my side. But I hope to write a dozen more books by the time I turn 70.
Thanks Wendy! I sometimes wonder what the average daily word count would be for authors who are actively writing the first draft of a novel. I know some can write 5K in a single day. Others 500. Maybe 1500 is about average?

Seems you're training for marathons; run long and godspeed!

I love counting words! It's such a motivating way to sit oneself down and write, every single day. And you're rocking it!
hahahaha!
