COVER REVEAL! Dark Circles, book 1
My subscribers will be able to preorder the middle-grade epic fantasy soon.
Do You Believe in Magic?, book 1 of my upcoming middle-grade epic fantasy series titled Dark Circles, will be available for preorder soon. I also hope to offer it at a discounted price exclusively to subscribers of this newsletter.
Dark Circles is appropriate for readers 13 and older. Young teenagers will love it, but I believe adults will enjoy it too. There will be ebook and trade paperback editions.
I’m very excited about the cover for book 1 (see below), which is an original illustration by miblart.com, a well-known book-design company based in Ukraine. The company has remained fully active despite the terrible invasion, which is more impressive to me even than the quality of their work.
Here’s a synopsis of book 1:
Abandoned by his derelict father, a grieving boy moves from Florida to his grandparents' farm in Upstate South Carolina. There, he rediscovers his passion for life in a most unexpected place—a magical world hidden deep in the forest.
In the real world, Charlie is a nerdy 13-year-old picked on by bullies at his new school. But in the fantasy world, he becomes a wizard who wields high magic.
Eventually, reality and fantasy blend into one.
Dark Circles is an adventure of epic scope. Only those with a hero's heart will dare to stand at Charlie’s side as he battles fantastical monsters led by an evil being of immense power.
And here are some details about me:
Jim Melvin is a novelist who lives in the foothills of the Southern Appalachians. He is best known for his epic fantasy series The Death Wizard Chronicles, a six-book saga for mature audiences. Jim was previously an award-winning journalist at several large newspapers and a communications director at a major university.
If you have any 13-year-olds in your life who love to read about monsters and magic, book 1 will make a fabulous gift. Of course, ages 23 through 103 … don’t leave them out either! After they’ve read Do You Believe in Magic?, my guess is they will believe. :)
If you have questions about the series that you would prefer to discuss personally with me, I can be reached at jimmelvin57@gmail.com.
Thank you!!!!!
