Who is Jim Melvin?
I am a full-time novelist whose main focus is epic fantasy, though I’m also a fan of Stephen King and enjoy the occasional horror novel. Previously, I was an award-winning journalist for several large newspapers and also a communications director for a major university.
What is Realms of Fantasy about?
For the next several months, the main thrust of this blog will focus on my latest work, a teen fantasy adventure trilogy title Dark Circles. Book 1 titled Do You Believe in Magic? debuted on May 25, 2023. Book 2 titled Do You Believe in Monsters? debuted Oct. 30, 2023. Book 3 titled Do You Believe in Miracles? debuted April 21, 2024. The series is appropriate for ages 13 and older.

I am serializing a memoir of my life growing up on the water in the Tampa Bay-area of Florida. The memoir is titled “The adventures of a Florida Boy.” My hope is that my subscribers will find this mostly light-hearted memoir to be a lot of fun—and even a tad touching.
